Join us tonight, July 21 at 7 p.m., for a special evening edition of our popular Comics Jam program. Dave Burbank, our library's graphic novel guru, will read comics appropriate for all ages, and then conclude the program by taking drawing requests from audience members. No registration necessary for this program, which is a perfect way to spend a summer night!
Join us this Sunday, July 20, at 2:00 for Crafts for 8 and up. We will be trying out sand art necklaces and assorted other crafts.
Under the Sea Storytime is Saturday, July 12 at 2:00 pm.

Kid Lit Star Kate DiCamillo will speak on Friday, August 29 at 7 p.m. at the Takoma Park Community Center Auditorium. DiCamillo, who is the current National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, won the 2014 Newbery Medal for her book Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures, and she’ll talk about that book, her 2004 Newbery Medal-winning book The Tale of Despereaux, her latest book, Leroy Ninker Saddles Up, and more. DiCamillo will sign books at the end of the program; books will be available for purchase, courtesy of Politics & Prose Bookstore. But no purchase is necessary to attend this free – and very special! – program.

Walter Dean Myers, who died earlier this week, was a remarkable writer and a hugely influential voice in the effort to diversify children's & teen literature. We have a large collection of Myers' books for children & teens; please come in and check out this writer who wrote the kinds of books he wanted to read as a child and teen.
