Join us at Circle Time tomorrow Tuesday March 26 as Pat Rumbaugh, Takoma Park's "Play Lady," helps us to act out her new book Let's Play at the Playground! Come either to the 10 a.m. Circle Time OR the 11 a.m. Circle Time and prepare to have fun with the Play Lady!
Here are a few simple rhymes to celebrate the start of spring:
In the Springtime
In the Springtime, the sun does shine,
The birds fly to and fro.
The frogs say "Ribbit" in the pond,
And the flowers bloom and grow.
(Note: This is a great one to act out. Make a half circle with your arms overhead for the sun, then flap your arms for the birds, use your hands to "make" the frogs' sound, then put your hands together, palms facing each other, in front of you and move them up in the air together and then apart to show flowers blooming and growing.)
Robin's Nest
Here is a nest for a robin (cup your hands)
Here is a hive for a bee (make a fist with one hand, then cover with the other),
Here is a hole for a bunny (make a circle with one thumb and index finger)
And here is a house for me! (put your fingertips together to make a roof).
Join us this Saturday March 16 at 2 p.m. for a look at "Pluto's Secret," a new kid's book about the former planet. Authors Margaret Weitekamp and David DeVorkin, plus illustrator Diane Kidd, will talk about their book, a whimsically-presented non-fiction picture book packed with interesting information. The book is aimed at ages 5 up; however our program is open to all ages. Politics & Prose bookstore will be selling copies of "Pluto's Secret" to anyone who wants to buy it, but our program is free and no purchase is required. Registration is encouraged, not required; to register, go to Program Registration - Takoma Park Maryland Library or call us at 301-891-7259.
Join us at 4 p.m. today for our monthly Comics Jam program, led by our comics guru, Dave Burbank. No registration necessary for this program, at which we'll read comics together on the big screen in the Children's Room. Our program concludes with Dave taking drawing requests from the audience.
On Monday March 4 at 7 p.m., we'll host our monthly Bedtime Stories program of songs, stories and rhymes. No registration needed for this program, which is perfect for babies, toddlers, preschoolers & their grown-ups. Come in your pjs and bring your favorite blanket or stuffed animal!
