Our next Petites Chansons/French Circle Time program will take place this Saturday, January 4 at 10:30 a.m. Please join us as Madame Marie leads the group in French songs and rhymes in a program that is perfect for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their grown-ups. No registration required, but if you register Program Registration - Takoma Park Maryland Library we can let you know when the next Petites Chansons program will take place or let you know if we need to cancel a program for some reason.
We will offer our usual 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Circle Times on Tuesday December 24. Please feel free to join us for one or the other of these 30 minute programs!
Our first-ever WinterQuest reading program debuts today! The idea is to keep everyone reading over the holidays and have fun doing it. So come into the library anytime in the next month to pick up your character, gameboard and story so you can start tackling the 10 WinterQuest reading challenges. Unlike our SummerQuest program, we won't have a giant gameboard to track readers' progress, and instead we're asking readers to record the books they read on their own gameboard. But -- just like SummerQuest -- we will end with a party, which will take place on Monday, January 13 at 7 p.m. Credit for the gameboard and story goes, of course, to Dave Burbank, our in-house artiste extraordinaire. And thanks go to the Friends of the Takoma Park Maryland Library for sponsoring our first-ever WinterQuest!
Due to the snowstorm, the library is closed all day. That means our programs schedule for today -- two Circle Times at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., Comics Jam at 4 p.m., and Bedtime Stories at 7 p.m. --are canceled. We'll reschedule the Comics Jam for next Tuesday December 14 at 4 p.m. Our Circle Times next week at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. will be led by Nancy Nuttle of Music Together. And stay tuned for a new date for Bedtime Stories. Enjoy the snow!
Our monthly Caldecott Club will take place tonight at 7 p.m. Come join us for a look at some wonderful new picture books -- each of which is a possibility for the 2014 Caldecott Medal, given to the best-illustrated book of the year. Our program is great for all ages, no registration is required, and we serve cookies and lemonade!
There are still a few spots left for Yoga Storytime this Sunday! Join us at 2:00 pm for 30 minutes of yoga poses, songs and stories, fun and relaxation! This program is for children ages 3-5 and a caregiver. We have one mat per pair. Please wear comfortable clothes. All participants must sign a waiver.

At tomorrow's two Circle Times, I'll be joined by local musician Marsha Goodman-Wood, who will share some of the songs from her debut CD, Gravity Vacation. The CD already has received critical accolades, including this recent write-up from the well-respected School Library Journal. Pick of the Day: Gravity Vacation | Audio | School Library Journal
Come join us at 10 a.m. OR 11 a.m. for a half-hour of songs, rhymes and fun!
