Winter's here, and for the next few weeks at our Tuesday Circle Time, we'll be learning some songs and rhymes to celebrate the season.
Here's an easy song (sung to the tune of Five Little Indians). Just flutter your fingers downward to make them into drifting snowflakes:
One little, two little, three little snowflakes,
Four little, five little, six little snowflakes,
Seven little, eight little, nine little snowflakes,
Ten little snowflakes drifting down.
Here's a rhyme about building a snowman. Just act it out as you say the words:
First the body, then the head.
A big black hat and a scarf of red.
Coal pieces for eyes and a carrot nose.
And a mouth full of pebbles in two shining rows!
Finally, here's a simple one focused on the joys of sledding. Do the first part slowly as you crunch in your boots up the hill, sled in hand. Then -- stop, get your breath at the top of the hill -- and then speed it up!
Crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch
Up the hill so slow.......
Then, we're at the top of the hill!
And.....
Sliding, sliding, sliding, sliding
Down the hill we go!
