A notice from the Library Director:
The Takoma Park Maryland Library is supported primarily by local taxes paid by residents of the City of Takoma Park. Our patrons and library users come from all over, however, and we're happy to serve them.
Beginning July 1, 2011, non city residents who wish to have a library card will be required to pay a fair share in supporting the operation and maintenance of the City Library.
Persons who do not live, work or attend schol in the City of Takoma Park will pay a fee for a library card or a card renewal that represents the annual per capita expenditure of the City of Takoma Park for library services to City residents.
Thus people who do not live in Montgomery County will be asked to pay a $60 annual fee to borrow library materials or use the Computer Center, equivalent to the local taxes paid by City residents.
Residents of Montgomery County outside the City of Takoma Park will be asked to pay a $37 annual fee to borrow library materials or use the Computer Center, represeting the per capita cost of library service less the annual payment by Montgomery County Government to the City of Takoma Park for that service.
We value the support and continued patronage of our customers from all jurisdictions, and we hope to continue serving you in the years ahead.
