American Indian History
We are nearing the end of Native American Heritage Month.
Three ideas.
- Celebrate by visiting our subscription database
American Indian History
and searching through the fascinating essays.
This is all copyrighted material, with real writers and editors. You will need your Takoma Park library card number to enter.
- Visit the National Museum of the American Indian downtown on the mall. They have good food and art.
- Fixing your own good food? Be sure to include some of native origin such as
the three sisters: corn, beans, and squash. Also: cranberries, turkey, potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, maple syrup, chocolate, vanilla. Etc. Planning a pie? Pumpkin, pecan or blueberry would be suitable for celebrating our native heritage. Persimmon pudding as well. And put out some sunflower seeds for the birds.
