The main City web page is now available as an RSS feed.

Use whatever feedreader you like: "live links" bookmarks in your Firefox browser, the feed reader features of IE 7 or Opera, a Firefox extension such as Sage, Bloglines, Google Reader, the protopage feedreading widget etc. etc.

The police bulletins web log also has an RSS feed, as do the various library blogs.

If you want to receive any of these feeds via e-mail, rssfwd seems to be working. You will need to answer a single confirmation message then you will automatically start receiving the posts in your mail box. Look at the left hand column of the police bulletins log to see a link that will automatically give you an e-mail subscription. (You may need to tell your spam filter to allow mail from rssfwd.com to pass through.)

Additional information.

Update November 12: Participating in the Give One Get One program? An RSS reader is built into the XO. See also: Previous post on the the one laptop per child project.

Nov 07 Holidays

The library and computer center will be closed:

Nov 12th for Veterans Day, which is really Nov 11 but that falls on a Sunday this year so we will close on the 12th.

The computer center will be open on Nov 11, the actual Veterans Day, at the usual hours: 2 - 6 PM.

Both the library and the computer areas will also be closed November 22nd and 23rd for Thanksgiving. Both will be open Saturday the 24rd.

Confused? Check our calendar.

Farewell to EDT - Eastern Daylight Time - Daylight Saving Time. Remember the mnemonic "fall back; spring ahead".

The switch back to standard time is later this year, the first weekend in November instead of the last weekend in October. Your computer may not know this.

7:37 Sunrise 6:05 Sunset Saturday November 3
6:38 Sunrise 5:04 Sunset Sunday November 4

Check the US Naval Observatory for sunrise/sunset times for any day and any of several thousand locations. Moonrise and set, transit times as well.
