The annual Arbor Day tree seedling give-away is going on now, on the covered passage outside the computer center. If you park at the library, go pass the main door, walk around the mosaic, you will see the display.
Trees include:
river birch (wonderful bark)
pawpaw (fruit)
sweet gum (gorgeous in fall)
black gum (aka sour gum aka tupelo)
white oak (big, broad, round, state tree of Maryland)
red oak (big, grows relatively fast)
redbud (buds in spring, right out of the branches)
pitch pine (which can grow in all sorts of conditions, eaten by wild boar)
BTW the library subscribes to American Forests, a great browse. For humans.
