Come to a special storytime this Saturday, Dec. 3 from 2- 3:30 pm at the Takoma Park Maryland Library.
All ages are welcome at this Hope & Inspiration gethering, where we'll also sing a few songs and finish with a simple craft designed to celebrate our diverse Takoma Park community.
For the first half hour of the program, we'll be reading picture books focused on themes of kindness and peace for the youngest readers; for the second half hour, we'll be reading some longer illustrated non-fiction books highlighting inspirational figures like Malala and important activism efforts, like the Greensboro sit-in and the Mendez family's successful fight for desegregated schools in California. We'll end the program by having everyone trace one of their hands on a piece of paper and personalize it with markers and stickers. Once we've cut out the "paper hands," we'll then gather them together in a series of wreaths that we'll use to decorate the Children's Room. Every participant will receive a booklist to take home to keep up the theme of hope and inspiration all year round. No registration is required for this special program. Please feel free to come for some or all of it -- hope to see you there!
