It's not just the national parks and all the monuments over and around the mall - we have historic sites and gardens and battlefields and ..
Have you visited ?
The Frederick Douglas National Historic Site - Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens (bring a picnic) - The Planetarium in Rock Creek Park - The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park (184.5 miles!) - Wolf Trap, the national park for performing arts - The Civil War Defenses of Washington (you can bike over to Fort Stevens)
All these wonderful places, all within few miles of our library, are National Park Service treasures.
Note: Don't forget The Mary McLeod Bethune Council House, The Clara Barton House, Ford's Theater, Peirce Mill, and many, many more.
Many of these places have free admission, but not all. The good news: all 4th graders and their families get free access to the national parks, lands and waters for 1 year.Posted by library at August 25, 2016 07:51 AM
