COMMUNITY ADVISORY - Richard Manning Miller Sentenced to Life Plus 55 Years

On January 30, 2008, Takoma Park Police arrested Richard Manning Miller of the 4200 block of 58th Avenue in Bladensburg, Maryland, for the assault and attempted abduction of a young woman on January 29 at the Pollo Campero restaurant on University Blvd. in Takoma Park, Maryland. Miller’s trial was held on November 3, 5 and 6 at the Montgomery County Circuit Court in Rockville, Maryland. On November 6, Miller was found guilty of attempted 1st degree sex offense, attempted kidnapping and 1st degree assault. Miller’s sentencing was held on December 17. Judge Terrance McGann of the Montgomery County Circuit Court sentenced Miller to Life plus 55 years – life for the attempt 1st degree sex offense, 30 years for the attempt kidnapping and 25 years for the 1st degree assault. His sentence is to run consecutively.
