Chief Ronald A. Ricucci from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Ayele Belay Belete, 28, of Washington, D.C.
On December 15, 2008, at approximately 2:10 p.m., while on routine patrol in the 7500 block of New Hampshire Avenue, a Takoma Park Police Officer made a traffic stop for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Belete, who is a wanted fugitive in Arlington, Virginia, for 1st degree assault, rape and abduction. Belete was taken into custody, processed and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit without incident.
