Police Officials are investigating the report of a Strong-Arm Robbery which occurred on April 24, 2007, at approximately 9:11 PM, in the 7300 Block of New Hampshire Avenue, Takoma Park. Investigators learned that a group of 4 to 5 teenage boys attacked two Silver Spring residents as they were walking along the sidewalk. The victims were kicked and punched as the juveniles searched their pockets for money. One of the victims was transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries and released.
At approximately 9:56PM, Police Officials were summoned for the report of two additional Strong-Arm Robberies, one in the 100 Block of Philadelphia Ave and the second in the 7600 Block of Piney Branch Road, Takoma Park. In the first robbery, a Takoma Park resident was attacked by two teenage suspects who beat him and removed items from his pockets. In the second incident which occurred minutes later, Investigators learned that two similar teenage suspects approached a Silver Spring resident, assaulted him and removed items from his pockets. The suspects fled East on Grant Avenue on foot. The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 16 years of age, 5'11", heavy build wearing a tan shirt and dark shorts. The second suspect was described as a Black male, 16 years of age, unknown height or build and unknown clothing. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
Investigators believe that these robberies were committed by two separate groups and are not connected with each other. Investigators believe the second set of robberies were committed by the same suspects. Chief Ricucci has stated “In response to these recent robberies, additional plain clothes and uniformed patrols will be placed in the affected areas.”

On April 13, between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm in the 6600 block of Westmoreland Avenue, a 2001 Pontiac Grand Pre
was stolen by unknown means. 07-5206
Between April 13 at 8:30 pm and April 14 at 9:30 am in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, a commercial burglary occurred. The front door was forced open. Property and cash were taken. 07-5243
On April 14, between 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm in the 7900 block of Takoma Avenue, a 1996 Chrysler Sebring was stolen by unknown means. 07-5259
On April 15, between 6:46 am and 10:46 am in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, a commercial burglary occurred. Entry to the store was gained through a hole that was made in a wall from a hallway. No property was taken. 07-5279
On April 16, between 2:50 pm and 3:00 pm in the 7100 block of Holly Avenue, a 2001 Dodge Stratus was stolen by unknown means. 07-5338
On April 18 at 4:57 pm in the 6400 block of Westmoreland Avenue, an armed robbery occurred. Two adult males were approached by three subjects who pulled up nearby in a late model black Chevrolet Impala. Two of the subjects had handguns. One pointed a handgun at one victim and demanded money. When the victim replied that he had none, the subject hit him, knocking him to the ground, then made the same demand of the second victim. All subjects fled after the second victim handed over his wallet. The victims were not injured. The suspects were described as black males with medium complexions, 18-22 years old, short black hair. Suspect one was 6'1", 160 lbs, medium build, wearing a black and grey jacket and black jeans. Suspect two was 5'8", 170 lbs., medium build, wearing a black jacket, grey shirt and black jeans. Suspect three was 5'3", 120 lbs, small build, wearing a white tee shirt and black jeans. 07-5432
On April 19 at 10:00 pm in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, a strong arm robbery occurred. An adult female who had just exited a bus and was walking home, was approached from behind by two subjects who pushed her down, grabbed her purse and fled in a grey vehicle. The victim was not injured. The subjects were described as black males, 6', slim builds, dark complexions, wearing dark jackets. 07-5486
Arrests:
On April 14 at 1:45 am in the 1000 block of University Blvd., an adult male was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia. 07-5224
On April 14 at 4:02 am in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested on an open warrant for 4th degree burglary and trespassing in reference to an incident that occurred on January 29, 2006 in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue. 06-9266
On April 15 at 7:02 pm in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested on an open Montgomery County warrant for failure to appear in court on charges of driving while suspended and driving an uninsured vehicle. 07-5290
On April 17 at 12:47 am at the intersection of Erskine Street and New Hampshire Avenue, two adult males were arrested and charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia. 07-5361
On April 18 at 7:40 pm in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with drinking alcohol in public. 07-5440
On April 18 at 11:27 pm in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia. 07-5443
On April 19 at 2:35 pm in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia. 07-5462
On April 19 at 7:25 pm in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with drinking alcohol in public. 07-5482

POLICE ALERTED TO SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AT MIDDLE SCHOOL
On April 18, 2007, at approximately 12:30 PM, Police Officials were contacted regarding suspicious papers located in a student’s binder at Takoma Park Middle School, 7611 Piney Branch Rd., Takoma Park. Investigators obtained the binder which contained pages printed from the internet depicting “Airsoft” pistols and rifles. “Airsoft” is a replica toy gun or rifle that fires a plastic hollow projectile. The binder also contained a list of names of students who attend the middle school. Investigators were able to locate the student who owned the binder and the student who was associated with him. Interviews were conducted to determine the severity and accuracy of the information obtained. After gathering information from school officials, students, and parents the information was screened with the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. The State’s Attorney’s Office indicated no charges will be filed at this time. Officials did not locate any firearms during a check of the school or the residences of the involved students.
At this time Police Officials do not feel that students are in any immediate danger as a result of this investigation.

Between April 5, time unknown and April 7 at 3:18 pm in the 7300 block of Maple Avenue, a residential burglary was attempted. A basement window was damaged. 07-4883
Between April 9 at 1:00 pm and April 10 at 9:50 am in the 6900 block of Carroll Avenue, a commercial burglary occurred. A door was forced open. Property was taken. 07-4993
On April 12 at 4:58 am in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, a strongarmed robbery occurred. An adult female was walking alone when a subject approached her, greeted her then punched her on the shoulder and knocked her to the ground. After the subject took the victim’s purse, he fled on foot. The victim was slightly injured, but refused treatment. The subject was described as a black male, early 20's, 5'6", 180 lbs, medium build, light complexion, wearing black pants, a grey hooded sweatshirt and light colored sneakers. 07-5101

On April 6 at 6:47 am in the 8500 block of Flower Avenue, an adult male was arrested on an open warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of possession of CDS paraphernalia. 07-4823
On April 6 at 3:28 pm in the 6300 block of Circle Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with 1st degree assault as a result of an incident that occurred on the same day in the 6600 block of Poplar Avenue at 2:37 pm. 07-4838
On April 6 at 5:21 pm in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, an adult female was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and possession of CDS with intent to distribute. 07-4838
On April 6 at 9:45 pm in the 200 block of Holly Avenue, three adult males were arrested and charged with possession of alcohol/under 21. One of the subjects was also charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia. 07-4847
On April 7 at 2:33 pm in the 6500 block of Second Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with violation of an Order of Protection and trespassing. 07-4880
On April 8 at 1:32 am in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested on an open warrant for a violation of an Order of Protection. 07-3556
On April 9 at 4:44 am in the 1300 block of University Blvd., an adult male was arrested on an open Prince George’s County warrant for an assault. 07-4943
On April 9 at 8:30 pm in the 7600 block of Maple Ave, an adult male was arrested on an open Montgomery County warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of possession of CDS. 07-4974
On April 10 at 3:09 pm in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested on an open warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of possession of CDS with intent to distribute. 07-5003
On April 10 at 7:55 pm in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue, an adult female was arrested and charged with possession of CDS. 07-5015
On April 10 at 11:15 pm in the 1000 block of Elm Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with auto theft, theft over $500 and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. 07-5026
On April 11 at 5:13 pm in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with drinking alcohol in public. 07-5084
On April 12 at 1:40 am in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with 3rd degree sexual assault for an incident that occurred in the 7600 block of Carroll Avenue on April 11 at 7:30 pm. The victim and suspect knew each other. 07-5095
On April 12 at 8:28 pm in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested on an open warrant for possession of CDS paraphernalia. 07-5147
On April 12 at 9:35 pm in the 900 block of Merrimac Drive, an adult male was arrested on an open Montgomery County warrant for failure to appear in court on two charges of 4th degree burglary. 07-5151
