On December 22 at 2:52 pm in the 7000 block of Carroll Avenue, a commercial armed robbery occurred. Two subjects entered the store, brandished handguns, ordered the six employees (one adult female and five adult males) and three customers (two adult males and one adult female) to lay on the ground and demanded cash from the register and safe. They also took cash from two employees before they fled on foot. No one was injured. The subjects were described as black males, 6'3", 190 lbs, medium build, one with a dark complexion, wearing a black rain coat with a hood and the second with a medium complexion, short hair and wearing a gray and orange jacket. 06-16160

On December 22 at 3:12 pm in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, a commercial armed robbery occurred. Two subjects entered a store, displayed handguns to three adult employees (two females and one male) and demanded money. The victims handed over cash and were then locked in a storage room while the subjects fled. There were no injuries. The subjects were described as black males, 20-25 years old, 6', 190 lbs., medium build, dark complexion, one with black hair, wearing a dark gray coat and blue jeans. The second wearing sun glasses and a black down coat with a hood. 06-16161

On December 22 at 3:42 pm in the 1300 block of Holton Lane, a commercial armed robbery occurred. Two subjects entered the store, displayed handguns and demanded money from the two adult employees (one adult male and one adult female). Both subjects fled on foot after taking cash from the register. No one was injured. The subjects were described as black males, between 20 and 30 years old, 6'. One had a slim build, dark complexion, wearing black pants, a black winter cap and a black thin jacket. The second had a light complexion and was wearing a silver or gray and beige light weight jacket, blue jeans and a hat. 06-16164

On December 23 at 2:17 am in the 8000 block of Maple Avenue, a 1st degree assault occurred. An adult male was approaching his home on foot when he noticed a maroon Cadillac Fleetwood with an adult female inside parked in front of a family member’s Ford van. As he approached the female to ask her what she was doing there, the victim noticed that a rear window of the van was broken then saw an adult male come around from the rear of the van with a bolt cutter in one hand and a handgun in the other. The subject ordered the victim to the ground and threatened to shoot if he did not comply before fleeing in the Cadillac. The victim was not injured. The male subject was described as black, 30-40 years old, 6'2", skinny, dark/nappy hair, wearing gray sweat pants. The female was described as black, 30- 40 years old, heavy build. On December 24 at 2:05 am at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and New Hampshire, a Takoma Park Police officer spotted a Cadillac with two subjects fitting the vehicle and subject descriptions in the December 23 assault and pursued the vehicle for some distance before the Cadillac stopped after running into a curb. The driver fled on foot, but was caught by the officer a short distance away. The female was also apprehended. Numerous charges and warrants will be sought. 06-16189

On December 23 at 2:10 pm in the 300 block of Elm Avenue, an auto theft was attempted. The ignition of the 1997 Honda Accord was damaged. 06-16217

Arrests:

On December 22 at 11:31 pm in the 7700 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with trespassing. 06-16181

On December 25 at 10:41 pm in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with 2nd degree burglary and malicious destruction of property after police responded to an alarm and found the subject exiting the store through a broken window. 06-16288

On December 8 at 11:15 pm in the 7100 block of Carroll Avenue, an armed robbery occurred. An adult male and female were walking when a subject ran up behind them, grabbed the woman’s purse and implied he had a gun. The male victim and the subject struggled for a short time before the subject broke away and fled. He was seen getting into a 1990 burgundy Honda Accord with DC tags being driven by another subject. The subject was described as a black male, 5'8", thin build, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans. No description of the driver was given. 06-15411

On December 10 at 5:58 am in the 1100 block of University Blvd., a commercial burglary occurred. The front glass door of the business was smashed. Property was taken. 06-15464

Between December 12 at 11:00 pm and December 12 at 7:10 am in the 100 block of Lee Avenue, an auto theft occurred. It is unknown what method was used to steal the 2006 Ford Van. 06-15551

On December 13, between 4:30 pm and 5:45 pm in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue, an auto theft occurred. Unknown means were used to steal the 1997 Plymouth Voyager. 06-15643

On December 14, between 12:45 am and 5:27 pm in the 100 block of Elm Avenue, an auto theft occurred. It is not known what method was used to steal the 2001 Dodge Caravan. 06-15714

Between December 14 at 8:30 am and December 15 at 12:07 am in the 7300 block of Garland Avenue, a residential burglary occurred. The front door was damaged in order to gain entry. Property was taken. 06-15722

Arrests:

On December 8 at 5:20 pm in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested on an open warrant for conspiracy to commit attempted 1st degree murder, conspiracy to commit 1st degree assault, intimidating a witness, false statement to a police officer, obstructing & hindering an arrest in relation to an incident that occurred in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue on
March 26, 2006 (see also 06-15721 for second arrest) 06-3471

On December 10 6:43 pm in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested on an open warrant for 2nd degree assault in relation to an incident that occurred in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue on December 10.

On December 15 at 10:49 pm in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested on an open warrant for attempted 1st degree murder and conspiracy to commit attempted 1st degree murder for an incident that occurred on March 26, 2006 in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue. 06-15721

On December 3 at 3:39 pm in the 7500 Hancock Avenue, an auto theft occurred. It is unknown what method was used to steal the 2003 Dodge Ram truck. 06-15211

Between December 2 at 10:00 am and December 4 at 6:29 am in the 100 block of Lee Avenue, a residential burglary occurred. A window was pried open to gain entry. Property was taken. 06-15228

On December 3 at 5:00 pm in the 900 block of Anne Street, an armed carjacking occurred. An adult male was parking his car in front of his home when a subject approached him, placed a screw driver to his neck and demanded money. When the victim refused to give him money, the subject jumped into the vehicle and forced the victim to drive away. The victim was able to get out of the car after a short distance and the subject then drove off in the victim’s car. The victim was not injured. The car, a 2001 Honda Accord was recovered on the morning of December 4 in Hyattsville. The subject was described as a Hispanic male 24-26 years old, 5'6", 160 lbs., slim build, light complexion, short black hair, a goatee, wearing a black jacket, white shirt, black pants. 06-15217

On December 5 at 9:30 pm in the 7600 block of Flower Avenue, an auto theft occurred. The owner of the 1993 Acura Legend left his car unattended, running with the keys in the ignition while he made a food delivery. 06-15284

On December 5 at 7:20 pm in the 7100 block of Carroll Avenue, a strong arm robbery occurred. An adult male was walking when he was approached from behind by four subjects. One subject grabbed him around his neck and demanded his property. All four fled on foot after taking the victim’s property. The victim was not injured. The subjects were described as black males, 18-22 years old, all wearing dark clothing. One subject was 5'9", 200 lbs, heavy build. A second was 5'9", 150 lbs, small build. No further descriptions were given. 06-15282

Arrests:

On December 2 at 7:10 pm in the 6400 block of 5th Avenue, a criminal citation for possession of CDS paraphernalia was issued to an adult male. 06-15165

On December 3 at 2:26 am at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Philadelphia Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol and three traffic related charges. 06-15167

On December 3 at 12:10 am in the 1300 block of University Blvd., a criminal citation for disturbing the peace was issued to an adult male. 06-15200

On December 5 at 11:50 am in the 1300 block of University Blvd., a citation for drinking in public was issued to an adult male. 06-15270

On December 6 at 1:30 pm in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, a criminal citation for possession of CDS paraphernalia and three traffic related citations were issued to an adult male. 06-15334

On December 2 at 1:45am, Takoma Park Detectives with the cooperation of the Metropolitan Police Department arrested an adult male in the 900 block Kearney St., NE, Washington, D.C., charging him with 1st degree murder in connection with the homicide that occurred on November 29 in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue. 06-15054

On November 25 at 8:37 am in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, an assault occurred. An adult male confronted two subjects who were trespassing at his place of business, asking them to leave. They in turn pushed and punched him several times before fleeing on foot. The suspects were described as black males, in the 20's, 5'7" - 5'8", 160 lbs, medium build, one was light complected, wearing a black coat with fur on the hood and a black hat. The other suspect was dark complected and wearing black pants and hooded sweatshirt. 06-14860

Between November 26 at 10:15 pm and November 27 at 9:30 am in the 1300 block of University Blvd., a commercial burglary was attempted. The glass and the frame of the front door were damaged in the attempt. 06-14929

Between November 27 at 6:50 pm and November 28 at 8:30 am in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, a commercial burglary was attempted. Unknown suspect(s) tried to pry open the back door of the business. 06-14968

On November 29 at 10:05 pm in the 600 block of Houston Avenue, a domestic assault occurred. An adult female was assaulted by an adult male in their home. The victim did not seek medical attention for her minor injuries. Police have applied for an arrest warrant for 2nd degree assault. 06-15053

On November 29 at 11:31 pm in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, a homicide occurred. An adult female was attacked outside of her apartment building by a male subject. The female died from blunt force trauma to her upper body. It is believed that the suspect was known to the victim. He was described as a black male, 300 lbs, wearing a white t-shirt with blue jeans. The investigation is ongoing. 06-15054

Arrests:

On November 25 at 9:15 pm in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, three male juveniles were arrested and charged with trespassing. 06-14887

On November 22 at 8:51 pm in the 1200 block of Kirklyn Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with driving while impaired by alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol and 17 traffic related charges. 06-14765

On November 26 at 2:25 pm in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with trespassing. 06-14910

On November 28 at 9:30 am in the 1300 block of University Blvd., an adult female was arrested and charged with possessing/issuing counterfeit currency. 06-14959

On November 29 at 4:03 am in the 7300 block of New Hampshire Avenue, a criminal citation for theft under $500 and three traffic related tickets were issued to an adult male. 06-15008

On November 29 at 1:22 pm in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, a criminal citation for theft under $500 was issued to an adult male. 06-15026
