Armed Robbery 7100 block Willow

Takoma Park Police responded to an armed robbery that occurred on Wed., June 29, at about 11 p.m. in the 7100 block of Willow Avenue. A man walking alone was approached from behind by two suspects, one displaying a weapon, who demanded property.

The victim complied and the suspects fled south on Willow, towards Carroll. The victim, who reported no physical injuries, continued walking and flagged down a passing police cruiser in the 7300 block of Carroll Avenue. A canine track was unproductive, as were searches by Takoma Park and D.C. police in adjacent areas.

Both suspects were described as black males, approximately 20-24 years of age, about 5'9" and 160 pounds. One had a medium build, wearing black clothes and black hat. The other had braided hair and wore blue jeans and a long, extra large white T-shirt.

Residents are cautioned that late night summer months are a time to be careful. In the past six years, the time period of June to August, between 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., accounted for 13 percent of robberies in Victor Sector, the police reporting area that stretches across the southern width of the city.

Pedestrians choosing to walk alone should be attentive of their surroundings and others in them. If confronted, comply with property demands and contact the police as quickly as possible.
