Chief Ronald A. Ricucci from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Vyron Alexander Cox, Jr., 23, of Washington, D.C., for 1st Degree Burglary, Destruction of Property and Theft over $500.

On May 7, 2009, at approximately 1:07 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 6400 block of 5th Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland, for reports of a residential burglary that had just occurred. Officers arrived and located the subject. When an officer started speaking with the subject, he began to flee on foot. A perimeter was set up and a Takoma Park Police officer deployed his K-9 partner, who was able to locate the subject on Sheridan Street in Washington, D.C. Cox was arrested and taken into custody by the Metropolitan Police Department. He will be extradited back to Maryland to face charges.
