There are two gang awareness workshop series taking place in Kensington and Silver Spring over the next couple of weeks. The first will take place at Newport Mill Middle School in Kensington, on April 14th, 21st & 28th from 7 to 9 pm. Another series will take place at Eastern Middle School in Silver Spring on April 15th, 22nd, & 29th from 7 to 9 pm.
Both workshops are given in three parts, so participants should try to attend all three sessions at a particular school. While this workshop series was originally designed for parents; community members, school staff and service providers are welcome to attend. In these workshops you will receive information as to the extent of gang activity across Montgomery County, learn about the warning signs of gang involvement, as well as identify strategies and resources to keep our youth safe. To make sure you receive all of the information, again, please try to plan to attend all three sessions in the series either at Newport Mill MS or Eastern MS. Translation services will be provided, and there will be free child care for children age 4 and older. To register go to:
