The City of Takoma Park Police Department no longer gives away steering wheel locks due to cost issues. However, many auto parts stores sell steering wheel locks which are inexpensive.
As for engraving equipment for personal property, if you wish to use it, please come to the Takoma Park Police Department, Administrative Services, 7500 Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland 20912, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and it can be checked out to you. It is checked out for no longer than two weeks. There is no cost associated with the use of the engraver. Many people use the engraver to engrave identifying information on electronic equipment, such as lap tops, GPS machines, iPods, cell phones, etc. in case of theft. If property after a theft is then recovered, it is easily reunited with the owner.
