Weekly Crime Summary: September 4-11, 2008

T1 Beat:

No reported incidents.

T2 Beat:

Assault
An assault occurred in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, Monday, September 8 between 5:30 p.m. and 5:43 p.m. A group of ten to eleven B/M juveniles threw rocks at a Piney Branch Elementary School maintenance employee as she took trash outside. The rocks struck the victim in the back and shoulder area, but was not injured.

Larceny – From Auto
200 block of Manor Circle, Saturday, September 6 at 2:30 p.m. Forced entry. Suspect ransacked vehicle’s interior and removed driver and passenger airbags.

T3 Beat:

Robbery/Commercial Burglary
A strong-arm robbery occurred at 6800 New Hampshire Avenue, Monday, September 8 at 12:56 a.m. Victim was closing business when she heard and saw Suspect 1 smashing the glass of the front door with a rock. Victim shouted at suspect to stop, but suspect managed to break glass door and enter the establishment. Suspect 1 grabbed money from victim then fled to four door black Honda in alley. Victim saw Suspect 2 walk out of neighboring business which was closed and unoccupied. Suspect 2 forced entry and stole property. Suspect 2 ran to Honda driven by Suspect 3 and vehicle fled parking lot. Suspect 1: B/M, 25-29 years of age, 5’8”-5’9”, heavy build, dark complexion, curly/wavy hair, wearing all dark clothing. Suspect 2: B/M, 18 years of age, thin build, light complexion, braids, wearing dark clothing.

RECOVERED Monday, September 8 at 9:28 a.m. by Montgomery County Police Dept.

Arrests:
On Friday, September 5 at 5:55 p.m. in the 1300 block of Holton Lane, an adult male was arrested and charged with Theft under $500.

On Saturday, September 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the 900 block of Merrimac Drive, and adult male was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, Driving without a license, Failure to exercise due care to avoid pedestrian collision, and other traffic offenses. Defendant also had an open warrant through Maryland State police for failure to appear on DUI charges. The vehicle the defendant was operating was also reported stolen through Prince George’s County.

On Tuesday, September 9 at 12:01 a.m. in the 8100 block of Roanoke Avenue, an adult male was arrested on an open warrant for 1st Degree Burglary.

On Wednesday, September 10 at 1:30 a.m. in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested on an open warrant for failure to appear – traffic.

On Wednesday, September 10 at 11:56 p.m. in the 6900 block of New Hampshire Avenue, an adult male and an adult female were arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.
