Weekly Crime Summary: August 28 - September 4, 2008

T1 Beat:

Robbery
An armed robbery occurred in the 6800 block of Eastern Avenue, Saturday, August 30 at 2:50 a.m. Three B/M’s approached victim from behind, displayed a hand gun, an attempted to take victim’s property. Two witnesses observed the in incident and heard the victim screaming. The witnesses yelled at the suspects who fled toward Eastern Avenue on foot. Two suspects wore black bandanas and black clothing.

An armed robbery occurred at the intersection of Hodges Lane and Chestnut Avenue, Saturday, August 31 at 3:00 a.m. Four victims were walking near the intersection when a black two door vehicle pulled up from behind. The front seat passenger demanded the victims empty their pockets as the rear seat passenger displayed what each victim believed to be a handgun. The suspects never exited the vehicle and fled toward Piney Branch Road. Suspects: B/M (4).

Larceny – From Auto
Four thefts from vehicles occurred between Thursday, August 28 and Monday, September 1. No forced entry and property taken in three incidents.

Stolen Vehicle’92 Chevrolet Blazer 6400 blk New Hampshire Ave 8/30, 1:00 p.m. – 8/31, 10:30 a.m.

T2 Beat:

Carjacking
A carjacking occurred in the 900 block of East West Highway, Tuesday, September 2 at 4:00 a.m. While on a pay phone at a gas station, victim left car running and door partially open. A B/M approached the victim and asked her for a quarter. The victim indicated she had no change, at which time the suspect jumped in her vehicle and fled. The victim attempted to stop the suspect and grabbed on to the door handle, causing injury. A witness observed the incident and described the suspect: B/M, 5’09”, medium build, short black hair, black t-shirt, and studs in both ears. The witness also identified a B/F as a second suspect. Suspect vehicle: 4-door green vehicle with crack on windshield.

T3 Beat:

Robbery
A strong-arm robbery occurred at the intersection of Colby Avenue and Cherry Avenue, Saturday, August 30 at 12:30 a.m. Two suspects demanded and pulled victim’s purse. Once the suspects obtained the purse, they fled in a black Dodge Intrepid. Suspects known to victim. Suspect: B/Ms.

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 1100 block of University Boulevard, Saturday, August 30 at 12:30 a.m. Victim at Metro Bus stop in the 8000 block of New Hampshire Avenue and had a verbal altercation with a group of male subjects. The group chased, kicked, and punched the victim before taking his property and fleeing. Suspects: H/M (3), 20-30 years of age, wearing white t-shirts.

Arrests:
On Sunday, August 31 at 4:00 a.m. in the 8200 block of Roanoke Avenue, an adult male was arrested for violation of a Peace Order. Arrestee also had an open warrant through the Montgomery County Sheriff for AW-Telephone Misuse Repeat Calls.

On Friday, August 29 at 4:26 p.m. in the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.

On Saturday, August 30 at 9:35 p.m. in the 1000 block of Anne Avenue, two adult males were arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Tuesday, September 2 at 7:33 p.m. in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, two male juvenile and a female juvenile were arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.
