On July 26, 2008, at approximately 10:41 p.m., units responded to the 7100 block of Maple Avenue for reports of an armed robbery. The victims were walking around the neighborhood and noticed a silver/gray SUV parked on the street with the lights off. The victims began walking past the SUV and noticed that it began to move past them very slowly, going to the end of the street, and then making a U-turn and pulling up alongside of them again. The first suspect jumped from the front passenger seat brandishing a silver shotgun pointing it at the victims demanding property. The suspect also assaulted one of the victims. A second suspect jumped out of the right rear passenger side of the SUV and joined the first suspect in the robbery. Property was taken. The SUV was last seen driving north on Maple Avenue towards Carroll Avenue, making a right hand turn towards the Takoma Park Metro. The driver of the vehicle is described as a black male, approximately 18-21 years of age. The second suspect who brandished the weapon is described as a black male, approximately 18-21 years of age, 5’8 to 5’10, 125-135 pounds, with a bushy “costume” looking black beard, wearing baggy pants and a white ribbed tank top under a shirt. The third suspect is described as a black male, approximately 18-21 years of age, 5’8 to 5’10, wearing a light colored bandana covering his lower face. Investigation continues under case #08043912.
