Chief Ronald A. Ricucci from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Martin Lopez Vasquez, 24, of no fixed address, for attempted armed robbery, 1st degree assault, 2nd degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon.
On July 18, 2008, at approximately 10:35 p.m., in the 1300 block of University Blvd., units responded to a call for an attempted armed robbery. Vasquez demanded money from the victim, and when the victim did not comply, Vasquez brandished a knife and swung it at the victim in an attempt to cut him. The victim was able to find a Prince George’s County Officer, who arrested and took custody of Vasquez and then turned him over to the Takoma Park Police Department. Vasquez was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit for an appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
