Weekly Crime Summary: June 20-26, 2008

T1 Beat:

Robbery
An armed robbery occurred in the 6700 block of Eastern Avenue, Tuesday, June 24 at 11:51 p.m. Victim was walking home when approached from behind by suspect. Suspect stated “Give me your money” and pointed a silver revolver with a long thin barrel at the victim. Suspect demanded victim’s money a second time, victim complied then entered his residence as suspect fled. Suspect: B/M, early 20’s, 5’8”-5’9”, thin build, wearing a black hooded jacket, and dark blue jeans.

An armed robbery occurred at the intersection of Columbia Avenue and Hickory Avenue, Wednesday, June 25 at 11:20 p.m. Victims were walking home when confronted by a B/M, 15-20 years of age 5’8”-5’9,” 130-135 lbs., wearing a black hoodie with sleeves cut off, shiny work out type pants, black high top shoes, and armed with a handgun. Suspect demanded victims’ property and was joined by six additional suspects. Victim 2 fled and was chased a short distance by two suspects. Suspects punched Victim 1 in the face, took his wallet, and then fled.

Firearms discharge
On Saturday, June 21 at 4:43 p.m., officers responded to the 6700 block of Cockerille Avenue, in the area of Spring Park, for reports of shots fired. Upon officer’s arrival, several bystanders indicated the noise sounded like fireworks and directed officers to the dead end of Cockerille Avenue. Witnesses indicated they saw six to eight black males, all wearing white t-shirts, arguing in the park. Two subjects fled in a white, possible Nissan. As the vehicle sped away, the passenger stuck his hand out the window and fired four to five shots. The remaining subjects got into an older, green GMC SUV and fled. One subject, a heavy set B/M, used a cane.

6400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, Sunday, June 22 at 5:26 a.m. Forced entry. Property taken.

Larceny
6400 block of Kansas Avenue, between Tuesday, June 17 at 6:00 p.m. and Friday, June 20 at 2:00 p.m. Property taken.

Larceny – From Auto
200 block of Grant Avenue, between Friday, June 20 at 11:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 21 at 9:30 a.m. No forced entry. Property taken.

T2 Beat:

Robbery
An armed robbery occurred in the 7700 block of Carroll Avenue, Friday, June 20 at 2:53 p.m. Victim was walking in her driveway when suspect approached from behind and pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at her. The suspect stated “Give it to me, give it to me” and demanded money. Victim handed property to suspect, then suspect fled on foot. Suspect: B/M, 18-19 years of age, 5’10”-5’11”, 140 lbs., wearing a navy blue zip-up sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Assault
A domestic assault occurred in the 100 block of Lee Avenue, Wednesday, June 25 at 2:30 a.m. The defendant assaulted the victim during an argument causing minor injuries. An adult male was arrested and charged with Simple Assault.

Burglary – Residential900 block of Jackson Avenue, between Sunday, June 14 at 3:00 p.m. and Friday, June 20 at 4:45 p.m. Forced entry. Property taken.

T3 Beat:

Larceny
7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, between Friday, June 20 at 11:30 a.m. and Saturday, June 21 at 8:30 a.m. Property taken.

Larceny
1100 block of University Boulevard, Saturday, June 21 between 1:00 p.m. and 2:39 p.m. Suspect took victim’s unattended property and fled in unknown direction.

Larceny – From Auto
Two larcenies from vehicles occurred in the 1000 block of Hopewell Avenue, between Sunday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m. and Monday, June 23 at 7:00 a.m. Forced entry. Property taken.

Arrests:
On Friday, June 20 at 10:53 a.m. in the 7500 block of Maple Avenue, an adult female was arrested and charged with Failure to Appear – Driving without License.

On Friday, June 20 at 11:42 a.m. in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, two adult males were arrested and charged with Possession of Amphetamines, Possession with Intent to Distribute marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Saturday, June 21 at 2:09 p.m. in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charge with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Sunday, June 22 at 2:09 p.m. in the 7300 block of Jackson Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Tuesday, June 24 at 1:57 a.m. at the intersection of Sligo Mill Road and Sheridan Street, an adult male was arrested and charged with 4th Degree Burglary, Trespassing, Failure to Obey a Lawful Order, and False Statement to a Law Enforcement Officer.

On Wednesday, June 25 at 12:09 a.m. in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, two juvenile males were arrested and charged with Theft, Auto Theft (Attempt), Trespassing, and Child in Need of Supervision.

On Wednesday, June 25 at 1:25 a.m. in the 7700 block of Maple Avenue, an adult male was arrested and charged with Malicious Destruction of Property over $500, Malicious Destruction of Property under $500, and Disorderly Conduct.
