COMMUNITY ADVISORY - Firearms Discharge

On June 21, 2008, at approximately 4:43 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 6700 block of Cockerille Avenue, near Spring Park, for reports of shots fired. Upon the officers’ arrival, several bystanders indicated the noise sounded like fireworks and directed officers over to the dead end of Cockerille Avenue. Two witnesses indicated they saw six to eight black males arguing in the park. The subjects separated and two of them fled in a white, possible Nissan. As the vehicle sped away, the passenger, only described as a black male with a white t-shirt, put his arm out of the window and fired four to five shots. The remaining subjects got into an older, green GMC SUV and fled. Those subjects could only be described as black males wearing white t-shirts. Investigation continues under case #08036230.
