COMMUNITY INFORMATION - Water Advisory

The City of Takoma Park has been in contact with numerous WSSC staff to try and clarify the public information provided by WSSC on their website and phone message regarding a major water main break that has occurred in Gaithersburg and their recommendation that residents of Montgomery County boil tap water before using for consumption.

The advisory states that areas outside the beltway are included in the advisory, but it also lists Takoma Park as an affected community. There is no clear information at this time why Takoma Park is included in the advisory along with other jurisdictions including Rockville, Gaithersburg, Derwood, Brookville, Potomac, Spencerville and Silver Spring.

At this point it seems most prudent to inform Takoma Park residents of the advisory to boil tap water prior to consumption for the next three days. Additionally WSSC has asked that users conserve and limit water use until the repairs to the line are completed. The repairs are expected to be finished by tonight.

This information can be found at www.wsscwater.com and by calling their communications office at 301-206-8100.
