FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On May 20, 2008, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Takoma Park Police began receiving calls for what sounded like multiple shots fired in the area northwest of Allegheny Avenue. At approximately 2:25 a.m., another call was received for what sounded like shots fired near Montgomery Avenue. A detective from the Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) observed two suspicious subjects walking from the residential section of Columbia Avenue. The detective subsequently made a suspicious persons stop in the 500 block of Tulip Avenue. The subjects, both juveniles, were found to be in possession of fireworks hidden under their shirts and in their pockets. Both subjects had been setting off fireworks in the areas referenced. The juveniles were both arrested for fireworks violations and released to the custody of their respective parents. No property damage was found.
