COMMUNITY ADVISORY - Armed Robbery and Attempted Armed Robbery

On May 2, 2008, at approximately 2:57 p.m., the Takoma Park Police responded to Tulip Avenue and Maple Avenue for reports of a robbery. The victim was riding his moped on Tulip Avenue near the day care center when a greenish/blue Ford station wagon (90’s model) pulled up near him cutting him off. Two suspects jumped from the vehicle, assaulted him and demanded the moped. The suspect took the moped and fled on Tulip Avenue to Cedar Avenue, with the station wagon following.

On the same date, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to Hickory Avenue for reports of an attempted armed robbery. The victim was walking down Hickory Avenue toward Elm Avenue when a greenish/blue Ford station wagon pulled up and a young, black male with dread locks jumped out. The suspect demanded property, but before obtaining anything, returned to his vehicle and fled towards Elm Avenue. The suspect is described as a black male, 20’s, approximately 5’8 and 180 pounds, dread locks and wearing a white tee-shirt. The suspect vehicle fits the same description as the prior armed robbery vehicle used on Tulip Avenue and Maple Avenue. The victims in both incidents were not injured.
