Chief Ronald A. Ricucci from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of William Anthony Knight, 16, of the District of Columbia who is being charged as an adult.
Pursuant to a report of an armed robbery on MARCH 4, 2008, in the area of Elm Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland, members of the Takoma Park Police Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU), worked jointly with investigators from Prince George’s County, Maryland, and the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department to develop leads linking the Takoma Park robbery to a string of armed robberies, assaults and carjackings, which had also occurred in Montgomery County, Prince George’s County and the District of Columbia. The investigation led Takoma Park Police to the arrest of Knight, a juvenile being charged as an adult, with Armed Robbery, First Degree Assault and Theft Over $500. Knight remains in custody in the District of Columbia and has additional charges pending that have been filed by the Prince George’s County Police Department relating to similar crimes in their jurisdiction. A second juvenile may have charges pending in Takoma Park, Maryland, as well as other jurisdictions.
