On February 17th, at approximately 7:25 a.m., units responded to the 6500 block of New Hampshire Avenue for the report of an armed robbery that occurred earlier. The victim reported she was waiting at the bus stop at New Hampshire Avenue and Poplar Avenue, when a black male dressed in all dark clothing approached her. The suspect produced a black handgun and ordered the victim to walk with him up Poplar Avenue away from the main road. The victim complied and once on Poplar Avenue, approximately forty yards, the suspect took the victim's purse by force and fled on Poplar Avenue. The victim chased the suspect for a short distance before losing sight of him. The victim wasn't injured during the robbery. The suspect obtained property from the victim. A K-9 track was attempted but was terminated when the K-9 lost the scent of the suspect. Investigation continues under case #08009708.
