FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On January 29, 2008, at approximately 8:10 a.m., Takoma Park Police Units responded to the 1300 block of University Boulevard for reports of an assault and attempted abduction. Units arrived to find a 27 year old female victim had been assaulted in an attempted abduction. The victim was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center with non-threatening injuries. Through investigation of a video surveillance camera by the Takoma Park Police Department, the victim appeared to have been waiting for a ride in front of the 1300 block of University Boulevard when the suspect approached, assaulted her and then grabbed her and tried to pull her into the back of his truck. The victim resisted and fled. The video surveillance captured the actual assault and attempted abduction. Investigators are currently enhancing the video to be made available to the media outlets. The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a white t-shirt with a long sleeve black shirt underneath and long blue or gray jean shorts and white calf-length socks. The vehicle is described as a white delivery-style truck with black lettering on the front driver and passenger side doors and a rear sliding door. Still photographs are attached of the actual suspect vehicle. If you have information about this crime, please call us at 301-270-1100.
