Message from the Chief of Police
Police officials were alerted to the report of a suspicious white van possibly following children from their bus stop in the area of 4th and Orchard Avenue. As a result of this alert, investigators with the Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) were assigned to monitor this area in a covert capacity. As of this date, investigators have observed several vehicles matching the above description; however, the occupants did not match those provided by previous witnesses. The vehicles observed are associated with a local contractor and not suspected of any suspicious or illegal activity. These vehicles were driving through the area to and from their work sites. Investigators will continue to monitor this area in the future. Citizens observing any suspicious activity in this area or surrounding neighborhoods are encouraged to contact the Takoma Park Police Department at 301-270-1100.
