School Burglary Arrests

On August 17 at about 3:30 a.m. Takoma Park Police patrol officers responded to the Washington-McLaughlin School at 6501 Poplar Avenue for a burglary alarm. Four juveniles were arrested inside the building, with the assistance of a Montgomery County Police Canine team.

The school had been burglarized also on the previous night, but the alarm company had failed to notify police. CID investigators also responded to interview the suspects. Through additional investigation, they determined that the juveniles were responsible for the previous burglary, and for two earlier street robberies. Most of the property from the first burglary has been recovered.

Chief Ricucci notes that there was outstanding teamwork performed between the various units involved to accomplish this successful investigation.
