The Takoma Park City Council will host a reception to honor Cindy Creamer on Monday, July 31st, 6:30 p.m, on her last day as a Takoma Park police officer. She is retiring after 30 years of service to the City, the last four as Chief of Police.
The reception, open to the community, will take place in the Community Center, 7500 Maple Avenue, prior to the 7:30 p.m. City Council meeting at which a resolution of appreciation will be considered.
Creamer, who began her service in 1976 as a Communications Dispatcher, became a sworn officer in 1978, rising to Chief in 2002. Creamer earned the Officer of the Year award twice, once in patrol and once in criminal investigations. She received the agency's first Supervisor of the Year award while leading the Support Services Division and was its first female sergeant and lieutenant.
Although retiring from Takoma Park, she will continue to work in law enforcement as the deputy chief for patrol at the WSSC Police Department.
