Three robberies were reported in the city over the past weekend, July 7-9, in separate locations: an armed robbery on Erskine Avenue, a strong arm robbery on Kennebec and an armed robbery on Maple Avenue.
Erskine - X8 Beat
Two Hyattsville men were victims in an armed robbery at about 11 p.m. on Friday, July 7 in the 1300 block of Erskine Avenue. Property was taken and no physical injuries were reported.
The men reported that after getting off a bus and starting up Erskine, a black Honda Civic passed them and stopped. Two individuals exited the car, demanded and took property, and fled in the car.
One suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his late teens, about 6' tall with a heavy build, about 200 lbs. He had long black hair and was wearing a beige shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect described as a black male in his 20s, about 6' tall with a slim build, about 160 lbs. He was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and blue jean and had long hair.
The victims called police from their residence several blocks away.
Kennebec - W4 Beat
A Kennebec Avenue resident reported that on July 9 about 8:30 p.m., a deliveryman was approached by three suspects, one of whom made a demand and took property. The suspects were seen fleeing in a red vehicle.
One suspect was described only as a black male, with dread locks, wearing a black shirt with yellow print. Two accomplices, who acted a lookouts, were described only as a black male and a white male, with red hair, wearing a white tee shirt and blue jeans.
Maple - V2 Beat
Just before midnight on July 9, a resident of the 7700 block of Maple Avenue was walking home from the Metro when he saw two men talking in the 7100 block of Maple Avenue, one of whom walked south. As the pedestrian neared the remaining suspect, he noticed the suspect was wearing a black ski mask and holding a handgun.
The suspect fired a shot in the air and made a property demand, with which the victim complied. The suspect fired a second shot in the air, before fleeing on foot towards Carroll Avenue. A Maple Avenue resident, after hearing the shots, reported seeing a fleeing black male described as about 6', with dread locks, wearing a black shirt with writing on it.
The victim described the suspect as a light-complected black male, 5'8", 145 lbs, with a solid black shirt, blue jeans and black ski mask. No further description was available for the second suspect.
Neighboring jurisdictions were provided with the lookouts in these incidents, but no suspects have been located at this time.
