Takoma Park Police are investigating a report by a city resident that a man attempted to entice her nine-year-old daughter into his vehicle on Maple Avenue about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night, April 19. The girl declined and ran to her mother’s vehicle, which she saw nearby and reported the incident.
The woman followed the man’s vehicle, attempting to stop it several times and then called the police. Takoma Park and Montgomery County officers searched the Washington Beltway and I-270 for about 30 minutes for the vehicle without success.
Investigation continues, but at this time police are not terming the incident an attempt kidnapping. Investigators would like to speak to the male motorist, however, to clarify what occurred during the event in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue.
The suspect vehicle was described as a 1994 white Honda Civic EX driven by a Hispanic male in his 30s wearing an orange T-shirt and green pants.
