Takoma Park Police report that an armed robbery occurred Saturday evening, April 9, shortly before 11 p.m. in the 7400 block of Maple Avenue. A man was walking north on Maple Avenue when he noticed two young men following him, one on either side of the street.
The suspects approached him and made property demands, one displaying a weapon. After taking property they walked south on Maple.
The victim, who reported no injuries, said he asked to use the cell phone of a passing pedestrian, who refused and directed him to the police station. He continued to the station. A canine track for the suspects led to the 7100 block of Maple and was lost.
The suspects are described as black males, about 20-25 years of age. One was 5'9", 170 pounds, dark-complected wearing a blue face mask and black jacket. The other suspect was 5'7", 160 pounds, dark complected wearing a blue baseball hat, blue t-shirt with a white t-shirt underneath.
Residents are cautioned to pay attention to their surroundings when walking alone a night. Reports of suspicious behaviors should be directed to Takoma Park Police at 301/270-1100.
