Great Teen Reads

Teen Read Week is celebrated each year during the third week in October. This year, our library held its first Teen Read Week event on Thursday, Oct. 19 with a small but enthusiastic crowd. We ate snacks, and discussed books. And we set a date for our new book discussion -- Thursday, Nov. 16 from 5-6 p.m. Come join us for snacks and some book talk!

At our Oct. 19 event, each participant chose a favorite book -- or two -- to discuss. It was quite an impressive and wide-ranging list! So, in case you're looking for a good book, here's the list of books we discussed, along with the ages the teen participants felt were appropriate for each book:

__ "Where the Heart Is" by Billie Letts (8th grade up)
__ "Go Ask Alice" by Anonymous (8th grade up)
__ "Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen (5th grade up)
__ the "Goosebumps" series -- horror and suspense books -- by R.L. Stine (3rd grade up)
__ the "Stravaganza" fantasy series ("City of Stars," "City of Masks," "City of Flowers") by Mary Hoffman (6th grade up)
__ "Be More Chill" by Ned Vizzini (8th grade up)
