Teen Read Week is coming up! We're celebrating at the Takoma Park, Maryland Library with a gathering from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19. We'll have snacks, games and prizes. We'll do a craft and, of course, discuss favorite books and authors.
Our event is for middle school and high school students, ONLY. Please sign up at the desk, or call 301-891-7259 -- so we can make sure to have enough snacks!
Since 1998, libraries have celebrated teen reading each year during the third week in October. This year, Teen Read Week runs from Sunday, Oct. 15 to Saturday, Oct. 21, and the theme is "Get Active @ your library."
Teens around the nation also can vote for their favorite book of the year. The 10 books with the most votes become the "Teens' Top Ten." We'll do our own voting at the Oct. 19 event. See you there!
