Have you always wanted to learn a foreign language? Would you like to improve your English? We have the program for you! We are excited to announce a new language learning program that is freely available to anyone with a Takoma Park Maryland Library card - PRONUNCIATOR.
This online program has 80 language courses from Afrikaans to Xhosa. There are also ESL courses for 50 non-English languages. The fun and interactive courses include self-directed lessons, live teacher-led conversation classes, full-length feature movies with interactive drills and quizzes, music, and more. If you register, you will also be able to track your progress and use the Pronunciator app on your smartphone or tablet.
Even the youngest kids can enjoy this program, with most languages offering courses for early learners (Ages 3-6) and young learners (Ages 7-12). These four week courses will introduce children to basic vocabulary and phrases in foreign languages.
Going on vacation? Try out the 8-week travel prep courses. These courses will help you to navigate airports, order food, speak with hotel staff, and communicate with native speakers on everyday topics.
Have you studied a language in the past, but need a refresher or want to improve your skills? Most languages offer structured courses for beginners, high beginners, low intermediate, high intermediate, and advanced study.
Are you a healthcare worker who needs help communicating with patients and families? Try the 6-week healthcare courses. No experience with the language is required. These courses will teach you basic phrases, medical conditions and terms, family relationships, days, numbers, appointments, and more.
Are you looking to take the U.S. Citizenship test and need some study materials? We have ProCitizen: U.S. Citizenship Preparation (also available en español). There are 100 informative videos, plus practice exercises and quizzes to help you pass the Naturalization test.
No matter what your language learning goals, your age, or your experience level, Pronunciator has something for you. Click here to view all the available languages and the features for each one.
