Kids ages 6 and up -- and their parents -- are invited to a special performance of The Learned Ladies, a play by French dramatist Moliere, on Thursday, August. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the newly-renovated City Auditorium. No registration is required for this program, so just come if you can. The play will be performed by middle school students who are part of the Traveling Players group this summer. You may have seen one of the group's distinctive purple buses parked behind the Library.
In The Learned Ladies two young people who are in love must overcome a major obstacle -- the attitude of girl's family -- in order to marry.
The girl's family, particularly three of her female relatives (the learned ladies
) want her to marry someone else, a poet who is a rather pretentious know-it-all.
