Winter is the darkest time of the year, when the days are short and the nights are long. But we've gotten past the Winter Solstice, so, bit by bit, it's getting lighter longer each day. At the Library, we have a tradition of hanging colorful paper birds -- each containing a special wish for Mother Earth and her children -- from the ceiling in the Children's Room.
Help us create a beautiful flock of birds! Come by the front desk and ask for one to color. You can color it in the Library (ask for our container of colored pencils) or take it home to color and then return it to the Library. Write your wish on the wings, and put your name on the body of the bird.
If you have any questions, call Karen MacPherson, the children's/teen librarian at 301-891-7262, or email karenm@takomagov.org.
