303.483 Keep Your Kids Safe on the Internet - currently on the "new book" shelves. The title is somewhat misleading, as at least half the chapters concern issues that are equally important to adults without kids: spam, spyware, firewalls. We are trying to arrange some sort of public workshop on security and Internet fraud but meanwhile please look through this book and watch out for ... phishing. Received any of these lately?
419 scams. A local resident using the computer center almost fell for one of those a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately she asked a question of a staff member who realized what was happening, intervened and stopped her. (A good list of examples) and there are many, many more ...
